Presenter: Chris Maskell FCITS - President NFCA
Title: Understanding and Preventing Floor Covering Failure Chris will discuss industry standards and available resources for all construction parties involved with floor covering installations. Seminar content will include examples and explanations of floor covering problems, a review of moisture and other testing requirements, product acclimation, inspection procedures, planning concrete dry times, who is responsible for what on site and how the NFCA Floor Covering Reference Manual works to support proper process. |
Presenter: Don Brletic - Regional Sales Manager, Western Canada - Ardex Americas
Title: Floor Flatness (FF)/ Floor Level (FL) and early phase concrete management systems Don raises awareness of the disparity between Division 03 and Division 09 in the early phase of concrete construction management. Floor Flatness/ Floor Level requirements have a tremendous impact on the construction process as the flooring trade is one of the last trades on a project. At this late stage, strained budgets, cost over runs, remediation decisions and expensive recovery have a negative impact on the over all project which often leads to NFCA recommendations being compromised. |
You will learn about:
- Floor covering industry specifications available to all construction professionals for inclusion in project documents.
- NFCA floor installation standards, inspection services and problems we face in our industry.
- NFCA-approved moisture testing methods and alkalinity testing.
- Scope of Work - who is responsible on site for sub-floor correction, moisture testing, floor protection etc.
- Floor flatness challenges and what is required to get it right. Understand the FF (Floor Flatness) and FL (Floor Level) value system and why unacceptable concrete slabs continue to be provided to the flooring contractor. Understand the 10' straight edge test method and the standards for different flooring types.
- Understand our industries Quality Assurance Program and how it works to protect all parties from poor planning.
