Introduction and Overview

Classroom Discussion Includes:

  • Appropriate site conditions
  • Substrate preparation
  • Material handling & layout
  • Adhesive application
  • Installation techniques
  • Preparing seams
  • Heat welding
  • Flash coving

10am Break

Live Installation Demonstration

  • Cove stick installation
  • Capping application
  • Butterfly/clean corner techniques
  • Full sheet goods installation
  • Installation techniques

Lunch (Noon – 1pm)

Afternoon Session 1pm

Live Installation Demonstration

  • Move to the pre‑installed mock‑up for welding.
  • Short theoretical segment on heat‑welded seams (principles, temperatures, techniques).
  • Hands‑on welding practice and demonstration.

3pm Break

  • Review and Q&A
  • Classroom written test

Your Trainer: Jesse Forest, Technical Director, Gerflor

Jesse

Jesse Forest serves as the Technical Director for Gerflor Canada, providing expert support to clients, sales representatives, and architectural teams to help ensure successful and technically sound flooring installations.

His responsibilities include overseeing product‑related claims, troubleshooting installation issues, and delivering clear, practical guidance rooted in real‑world experience. He is recognized for his broad understanding of the many different flooring systems distributed by Gerflor and for his ability to translate complex technical requirements into actionable direction for partners and installers.

Before joining Gerflor three years ago, Jesse worked as a commercial flooring installer, specializing in resilient sheet goods and flash‑coved applications. This hands‑on field experience shaped his technical depth and sharpened his ability to evaluate installation quality, workmanship, and best practices. His background gives him a unique perspective — one that blends installer‑level precision with manufacturer‑level technical insight.

Driven by integrity and a strong sense of craftsmanship, Jesse prides himself on ensuring flooring projects are done correctly, safely, and with long‑term performance in mind. He remains committed to helping teams deliver work they can stand behind through honest communication, technical excellence, and a job‑well‑done mindset.
