There are two types of floor inspection service available through NFCA:
1. Post installation inspection (single inspection).
2. Specifiable Quality Assurance Program (QAP) for commercial projects (multiple inspections before, during and after installation).

NOTE: For post-installation inspection requests in British Columbia, please send to info@bcfca.com.

1. Post installation Inspection

  • A review of indoor site conditions.

2. Quality Assurance Program (QAP)

QAP is a specifiable inspection service that is included in the construction documents for larger commercial projects. When QAP is initiated prior to installation startup, a certified floor inspector is assigned to the project and will work with the construction team from start to finish.

This involves:

  • Review of flooring plans and specifications.
  • Review of substrate moisture and alkalinity testing reports (provided by a third party, certified testing agency).
  • Review of site indoor environmental conditions and product acclimation.
  • Review of installer qualifications.
  • Confirmation that specified products are on site.
  • Confirmation that the flooring contractor will provide a 2-year, 100% maintenance bond.

Further details:

  • Assigned inspectors are trained and certified.
  • Inspectors support all construction parties equally with independent opinion.
  • The flooring contractor will be required to supply installers who meet NFCA Trade Qualification standards.
  • Cost for the QAP can be found in the PDF below.
  • If necessary, inspector travel and accommodation are extra.
  • Inspections are non-destructive.
  • Inspectors review and verify test results (provided by others).
  • Inspectors observe and report only, review specifications and issue comment and advice where possible. Inspectors do not recommend products or price estimates.
  • Floor covering types included: Carpet, resilient, hardwood, laminate, bamboo, cork. Sub-floors and environmental site conditions are also included. For tile, stone and ceramic, contact the Tile, Terrazzo and Marble Association of Canada, via www.ttmac.com.
