NFCA Announces 2026 Annual General Meeting and Inaugural Circle of Excellence in Floor Covering Installation Awards
Members and special guests to convene in Calgary to talk concrete and honour top craftsmanship and leaders in the Canadian Flooring Industry
VANCOUVER, March 26, 2026 – The National Floor Covering Association of Canada (NFCA) is pleased to announce its 2026 Annual General Meeting taking place on May 7 at The Best Western Premier Calgary Plaza Hotel and Conference Centre in Calgary, Alberta. This year, along with the keynote speaker, Bill Black, President and CEO of the Calgary Construction Association (CCA) and a panel discussion on concrete, NFCA is launching the Circle of Excellence in Floor Covering Installation Awards which will spotlight exceptional work across several categories, including technical skill, leadership, mentorship and lifetime achievement.
NFCA is honoured to feature Bill Black as their keynote speaker. With over four decades of industry experience, he is a passionate champion for the construction industry and committed to challenging the status quo using his characteristic frankness and humour to foster healthy dialogue. Key topics will include:
- The Alberta and Calgary market and the nature of work that is in place.
- Future workforce realities and the work that CCA is engaged in.
- Whether today’s youth want to work long term in an industry that has evolved on our watch.
NFCA’s annual tradition of high-level panel discussions continue with this year’s topic on concrete, Getting it Right to Avoid Costly Delays with Chris Maskell, CEO of NFCA, Graeme Rosen, Director of Training at NFCA, and Nelson Samayoa, Managing Director/Senior Project Manager at New Gen Floor Systems.
Launching the Circle of Excellence in Floor Covering Installation Awards this year is a pivotal moment for NFCA. Shifting the focus to include the celebration of technical skill and dedication that installers proudly bring to their craft – both seasoned and apprentices – serves to elevate them as essential contributors to the success of the flooring industry. Mentors and influencers will also be honored – those who have made a significant impact as a role model; from teaching, guiding and supporting the development of installers throughout their career to bringing awareness to the skilled trade of flooring installation to kids in classrooms and showing them that a great career may be just beneath their feet.
“NFCA is elevating the flooring installation trade by recognizing the unwavering dedication of those who build our reputation from the ground up through mastery, mentorship and leadership, and by doing so, help to set a new standard for our industry and inspire the next generation of installers“, said Chris Maskell, CEO, NFCA.
NFCA is proud to announce their sponsorship partners for this year’s event.
“We are incredibly grateful to our member partners whose support highlights a shared commitment to drive conversations, continuous learning, promote best practices and standards in floor covering installation and shine a spotlight on excellence in our industry.”, stated Maskell.
